Scarborough Symphony Orchestra Concert – 22nd November 2025, 7.15pm Methodist Central Hall, Queen Street, Scarborough

November’s concert is a very spiritual event.
Sir James MacMillan’s Larghetto for orchestra is an orchestral version of his a cappella Miserere, a work which opens the listener to a world of solemnity, forgiveness, and optimism.
Rachmaninov’s 2nd Piano Concerto in C minor needs no introduction and will be performed by Steinway Artist Yuki Negishi.
Two deeply spiritual works follow. Jerimiah is based on the book of the Old Testament and Sinfonia Sacra by Andrzej Panufnik is based on the first known hymn in the Polish language, the Bogurodzica.
